"Wow...when you first told me to read Chapter 6 of Man vs "boy,” I figured it would be like any other Christian based book that I have read. A few words that would stay in ones mind for a brief moment, and then be forgotten the next. I started reading, and was entertained by the narrative styled writing. And then...I began to notice symptoms that were all too familiar. The words began to sink deeper, peeling away at layers that had formed around my heart: the "promiscuous behavior," the "need to control one's environment to feel safe" or the "victim mentality." I thought, “My God, this is me!” I used to scoff at you whenever you mentioned I had "Daddy Issues," and I refused to acknowledge your comments. What’s worse is that by reading this chapter, I realized your observation was undeniably correct. My fathers may have failed me in many areas....but I need to forgive them and realize that even though they may not show it, they do love me. I don’t want to be this apathetic person who is resentful towards the opposite sex, and who's afraid to take a chance with a person who truly cares for me.
